It’s been ten years since Earth was incorporated into the intergalactic community. Ten years in which aliens of various species have immigrated to Earth and thousands of humans have emigrated to other worlds. Ten years of an influx of the alien’s admittedly much more advanced technology into daily life until no one can imagine doing without it. In exchange for all this advancement, the aliens have asked for one thing and one thing only: that all humans between the ages of twenty and forty be entered into the System to be, potentially, matched.

Bethany just wants to get this over with and complete her contract with the System so she can get back to her life on Earth. But when she meets her alien match, Ater, head librarian at the Library on Ptiogrea, she realizes she might have hit the jackpot because her match is… gorgeous.

Ater never expected to be matched; it was not too long before he would age out of the System. So, when he learns that he’s been matched, he’s proud, and excited to meet his match, a human, a species he’s never met or even heard of before. But when he meets his alien match, Bethany, a literature PhD drop-out, he’s a little disappointed because his match is… hideous.
